The project “Let the rain water enter our homes’’ focuses on information of the public (the emphasis is placed on target groups of householders, children and youth, representatives of schools and municipalities) on problems of climatic change above all in context of landscape water regime. Nevertheless, it is not only an informative campaign. The project offers a variety of partial measures regarding the possibilities and the needs of particular target groups as well as putting them into practice within a larger period.
The project consists of seven activities that make the achievement of these aims possible. The activities will be executed till the end of 2011.
Enlightenment actions for public
We organize these actions on our own or in co-operation with other organizations in the whole republic. A qualified adviser is present, able to answer citizens ‘questions and give more information regarding these questions. He can also establish longer co-operation. Our instructors explain the problems of climatic change and landscape water regime to children and youth through fun games.
Counselling for usage of the rain water in households
Within one year period, until August 2010, our regional advisers provide counselling for tens of families in the whole republic. Families living in family and dwelling houses, in cities and villages are involved. The advisers help them to put their own ideas into practice and recommend them a number of further measures directly for themselves.
Project day at basic schools with practice
Pupils of four elected schools spend the whole day together with our instructors. They think out a number of measures for appropriate use of the rain water both at schools and at homes. At the same time they learn about climate, water cycle and so on through a fun way of study.
Municipalities and schools
Municipalities are the key partners for the implementation of measures aimed at the return of water into landscape. They are mainly influenced by flood consequences and by other effects of extreme variations of weather and that is why they are strongly motivated to prevent them. Implementation of various measures in public building, lands and school could be a good example for citizens and children.
Excursion to Berlin to see examples of good experience
The problem of dewatering of mainly town landscape has been resolved for quite a long time in the neighbouring countries (Slovakia, Austria, and Germany). Several very successful projects can be seen in Berlin in a relatively small area and that is why we have chosen Berlin as a suitable place of our two-day excursion.
Who will participate? Besides our advisers and representatives from schools and municipalities anybody can join us for a small fee. Representatives of ecological counselling centres, companies dealing with similar systems, students of architecture will really enjoy the excursion that will bring them a big contribution.
Picture
We decided on the base of previous activities results to make a 20 – 30 minutes long picture that will be used for propagation of professional findings and examples of good experience. The picture will present experience of households, schools and municipalities involved in the project and examples of other successful projects from our republic as well as from foreign countries. Professional comments will accompany the picture.
